The citizen science platform “Voces-Territorios”

15th March 2024

On April 8, we will present in Madrid the citizen science platform “Voces Territorios”, developed within the Contested Territories project, funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under grant agreement Marie Skłodowska-Curie No. 873082, and in collaboration with MIRCo. Contested Territories is an international and cross-sectoral network of organizations from Europe and Latin America, united in a joint research program aimed at generating conceptual and empirical knowledge on territorial inequalities: https://www.contested-territories.net/

Very soon, the citizen science app “Voces Territorios” will be available in the Apple Store and Google Play, open to everyone. It involves the general public in scientific activities and encourages them to actively contribute to research through their intellectual effort, general knowledge or tools and resources. This citizen science platform allows users to locate and correlate texts, photos, audio and video of territorial struggles in different parts of the world related to linguistic conflicts. This is a concrete response to broad calls for decolonizing and indigenizing knowledge, in a deliberate challenge to extractive models of research and the western epistemological canons that are based on them.
