Utopia and Dystopia

The LL Workshops are one of the most prominent spaces in the LL field to generate knowledge and share research. Since its first edition, in Tel Aviv (2008), there have been thirteen LL Workshops, held in numerous cities on four different continents: Siena (2009), Strasbourg (2010), Addis Abeba (2012), Namur (2013), Cape Town (2014), Berkeley (2015), Luxembourg (2016), Liverpool (2017), Bern (2018), Bangkok (2019), Gothenburg (2021, online), and Hamburg (2022).

The fourteenth edition of the LL Workshop will be held September 6-8, 2023 in Madrid, sponsored by Universidad Autónoma de MadridUniversidad Complutense de Madrid and the Research Center Multilingualism, Discourse and Communication (MIRCo).

The Call for Papers is now open. Submit your panel proposals by November 15th.
Submissions of individual papers will open on January 15th.

LL14 will explore how the dystopian character of our daily reality and utopian imagination all around the world are reflected in the linguistic landscape.
